This role is essential in preparing and programming CNC machines to produce precision components according to specifications. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency in CNC programming, and experience with various manufacturing processes. As a key contributor, you will ensure that machinery operates efficiently, accurately, and safely to meet production goals. Duties Set up CNC milling machines and CNC lathes, including installing tooling, fixtures, and workpieces in accordance with blueprints and technical drawings. Program CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and verify programs through simulation before execution. Read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and technical specifications to ensure precise machining. Perform routine machine calibrations and adjustments using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines. Conduct quality inspections of machined parts utilizing precision measurement tools to verify conformance to specifications. Troubleshoot machine issues related to electrical discharge machining, tooling wear, or mechanical faults; perform minor repairs or escalate as needed. Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols; operate hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment when necessary. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes, reduce waste, and improve efficiency through lean manufacturing principles. Assist with setup changes for plastics injection molding or assembly operations when required. Support continuous improvement initiatives by documenting procedures and participating in training sessions. Experience Proven experience as a CNC Set Up Operator or similar role within a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code; experience with Fanuc controls is preferred. Proficiency in reading blueprints, GD&T standards, and technical drawings. Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), CAM programming software, SolidWorks, CAD software, and tooling selection. Mechanical aptitude with understanding of machining processes involving CNC milling machines and CNC lathes. Experience using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines. Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and feed rates. Knowledge of manufacturing practices such as lean manufacturing principles; experience with plastics injection molding is a plus. Ability to operate forklifts safely; familiarity with power tools, hand tools, welding techniques, and assembly processes is advantageous. Strong attention to detail coupled with excellent problem-solving skills; ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
