Job Title:
CNC Laser Operator Job Summary The CNC Laser Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC laser cutting machines to produce precision metal components according to specifications. This role ensures quality, safety, and productivity while meeting production schedules and engineering requirements. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines to cut metal materials such as steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and other alloys Load and unload raw materials and finished parts using appropriate material handling equipment Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, job travelers, and work instructions Program or edit CNC laser programs as required (nesting, offsets, kerf adjustments) Monitor machine operation to ensure accuracy, quality, and safety Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting Identify and report equipment malfunctions or quality issues to the supervisor or maintenance team Maintain production records and follow workflow documentation Follow safety protocols, including PPE requirements and lockout/tagout procedures Support continuous improvement, 5S, and Lean manufacturing initiatives Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED (technical training or certification preferred) 1-3 years of experience operating CNC laser cutting machines Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Basic understanding of CNC controls and laser cutting processes Knowledge of metal types, gauges, and material properties Strong attention to detail and quality standards Ability to work independently and as part of a team Preferred Skills Experience with specific controls or software (e.g., Amada, Mazak, Trumpf, Bystronic, Fanuc) CAD/CAM or nesting software experience Familiarity with ISO, ASME, or customer quality standards Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skillsSimilar remote jobs
