Position Summary:
Work with CAD/CAM programing using SolidWorks, HSM etc., for use in the machining of specialized tooling for Blow molding, thermoforming and/or other tooling used in the manufacturing of plastic parts. Conduct setup and machining using 5 axis milling machines, manual mills, lathes, grinders and 3 axis CNC Machining Centers as necessary.
Role Responsibilities and Priorities:
Conduct setup and machining using manual mills, lathes, grinders and CNC Machining Centers as necessary. Analyzes drawings, sketches, and design data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates. Able to interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T) Performs basic to intermediate level programming of CNC Machinery Determines reference points and direction of machine cutting paths. Outlines sequence of operations required to machine part. Observes operation of machine and inspects parts to prove programmed instructions. Performs part inspection with common measuring tools (i.e., Part probe, micrometer, calipers, etc.). Provides programming support to all CNC setup technicians. Performs all work procedures in accordance with safety and ISO Standards. Effectively communicates with Tooling Department Manager to review work schedule and status of assignments. Part of a team driven to identify, develop and deliver innovative solutions, driven to constantly improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.
Job Qualifications include:
Education 3 + years trade school diploma required. or 2+ years college in a technical discipline preferred. CNC Programmer Certification desired. Experience Prior CNC programming experience 3+ years preferred 3D CAD and cam experience preferred. Essential skills, behaviors: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or managers and employees of organization. Ability to work with mathematical concepts including fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Must be familiar with using MS Office and Outlook.

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function. (consistently) The incumbent must be able to effectively utilize a variety of hand and power tools, computer peripherals, climb ladders and lift up to 40-50 lbs. (consistently); up to 70 lbs (occasionally) Must be able to effectively wear or utilize all required PPE (as required for job/specific task) Ability to be on your feet for majority of an 8 hour to 10 hour shift (consistently) This position requires a high degree of mobility and hand dexterity to assemble and re-build machines including reaching and working above head, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching side-to-side, and twisting. (intermittently) The incumbent must be able to effectively communicate with employees at all levels within the organization. (consistently) Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. (continually)
