Job Description
Role Summary The CNC Set-Up operator performs complete machine setups, troubleshoots routine production issues, and ensures accurate and efficient production. This role requires strong technical skills, the ability to interpret complex blueprints, and accountability for quality and productivity. Set-up operator will also provide guidance to CNC operators, Level 1 and 2. Key Responsibilities Recommend process enhancements to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability Perform full CNC machine set-ups, including tooling changes, offsets and fixture alignment. Ability to operate CNC lathes, mills, or multi-axis machines for production runs. Help conduct first piece and in-process inspections with precision measuring instruments. Troubleshoot and resolve routine machining or dimensional issues Recommend and implement minor process improvements to improve efficiency and/or reduce scrap. Document production output, downtime, and inspection results accurately and clearly. Support preventative maintenance programs by identifying wear or recurring issues. Collaborate with maintenance and engineers on machine efficiency. Skills/Competencies Ability to interpret work instructions Proficient in following written and verbal directions Intermediate verbal and written communication skills Intermediate mathematical skills Intermediate use of required gaging instruments Intermediate use of required gaging instruments and the application of such instruments Qualifications 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role Ability to work under minimal supervision Proficiency in handling complex issues and problems Comprehensive working knowledge of subject matter Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly Required to stand for extended periods Must be able to push/pull objects up to 50 pounds Frequent bending and stooping required Must have the dexterity to handle small objects Must be able to work in noisy environments.
