Job Description

CNC Router Operator + Assembly Technician — Salado, TX Xdesk has been designing and handcrafting electric standing desks in Texas for over a decade — 12 patents, 27 awards, and reviews from Wired, Cult of Mac, Digital Trends, and Maximum PC calling us the best in the world at what we do. The reason all of that is true is the shop, and the people in it. We're hiring a CNC Router Operator who also runs assembly — one person, two crafts, full ownership of the part from raw stock to finished surface. What you'll do Run our CNC router cutting wood — every Xdesk part starts here Load, set up, and tear down jobs; check tolerances; catch tool wear before it costs you a part Read tool paths and shop drawings; spot programming errors before they become scrap Move into assembly: fitting tops, attaching frames, dialing in motors, doing the final pass that decides whether a desk ships or doesn't Keep your station clean, your tools sharp, and your work tighter than spec What we need from you Hands-on experience running a CNC router Comfortable reading drawings, measuring to tight tolerances, and working with hand and power tools The instinct to catch a problem early — most of what kills a part can be seen ten minutes before it happens, if you're paying attention Patience for fine assembly work and pride in the finish Nice to have (not required) CNC programming experience (we'll teach you our workflow either way) Furniture, cabinetry, or millwork background Experience with bamboo or other engineered wood Why this job and not the other one The desks you'll build cost $1,500 to $12,000. People buy them because they care about how their workspace looks and feels — and they keep them for a decade or more. Every desk that leaves this shop has someone's hands on it. That'll be you. Your work will end up in homes, design studios, and offices around the country, and the people who own them will run a hand across the edge and feel that this one's different . It's different because you made it different. What you get Comp above avg for local area Health insurance Paid time off A clear path: Operator → Programmer / Shop Lead, with raises tied to skill, not tenure A small shop where your work is visible and your name is known To apply Hit "Apply." Interviews are short, hands-on, and on the shop floor — if you're the right person, you'll know within 48 hours of walking in.
