Job Description

We are seeking an experienced CNC Plasma Table Operator to work in our Operations Department. We are looking for a hardworking, mechanically inclined individual who is ready to work and continuously improve. A plasma table operator sets up, programs, and operates a CNC plasma cutting machine to cut metal according to precise specifications, requiring the ability to read blueprints and CAD drawings, monitor machine performance, perform routine maintenance, and adhere to strict quality and safety standards. Key tasks include loading/unloading materials, adjusting cutting parameters like gas flow and speed, inspecting cut parts for accuracy, performing minor repairs, and maintaining an organized workspace. This is a 1st shift position. Ideal candidate will be able to handle the following responsibilities:
Setup & Operation:
Set up the CNC plasma cutting table and equipment. Load and unload metal sheets and plates using lifting devices such as cranes or forklifts. Select the correct material type and gauge for the job.
Programming & Control:
Program the machine to cut parts based on CAD files or blueprints. Generate part nesting to optimize material usage. Adjust and reprogram machine controls as needed to maintain cutting quality.
Monitoring & Quality Control:
Monitor the cutting process, including speeds and gas flows, to ensure accuracy. Conduct quality checks to verify that parts meet specifications and tolerances. Inspect cut edges for quality and accuracy, using hand or power grinders to smooth rough edges.
Maintenance & Safety:
Perform routine maintenance on the plasma cutting machine. Replace worn consumables (like the torch nozzle and electrode) when necessary to ensure clean cuts. Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and malfunctions. Maintain an organized and clean workspace. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
Documentation:
Complete production and quality control sheets. Record and document actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs. Skills & Knowledge Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work tickets. Proficiency with CNC machine operation and computer-aided design (CAD) software.
EXPERIENCE WITH OVERHEAD CRANE OPERATION REQUIRED
Understanding of material properties and cutting processes. Knowledge of basic math for measurements and calculations. Familiarity with precision measuring instruments. The cut pieces of metal are then checked for accuracy and packaged by our shipping department for delivery to our customers. We have four locations throughout WI, MI, and IL.
