Job details Summary Spherion $33.00 - $37.00 per hour Temp to Perm 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM Industry manufacturing & production (Production Occupations) Reference number S_176180 Job details We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Programmer II / Set-Up Operator to join a precision manufacturing team. This dual-function role is responsible for programming multi-axis CNC milling and lathe machines, designing custom fixtures, and executing complex machine setups. The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical skills with hands-on machining expertise to optimize production efficiency and maintain rigorous quality standards. ... Responsibilities:
CNC Programming & Simulation Write, input, and verify programs for multi-axis CNC milling and lathe machines. Prepare geometric layouts and tool paths using SOLIDWORKS and MILLCAM software to establish reference points and cutting directions. Utilize NC plot software to simulate and prove out tool paths, comparing printouts against original sheets to eliminate instruction errors or omissions. Utilize parametric programming (MACROS) to optimize machine instructions. Resolve CNC programming and manufacturing discrepancies collaboratively across relevant departments. Tooling, Fixture Design & Setup Analyze blueprints, sketches, and engineering data to determine part dimensions, configurations, cutting tool selections, speeds, and feed rates. Design and analyze machine-holding fixtures; evaluate tool designs and coordinate with engineering for necessary modifications. Compute complex angular/linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures to map out optimal machining sequences. Set up, calibrate, and operate all CNC machinery in the facility according to job orders, blueprints, and tooling instructions. Production, Quality & Maintenance Run test operations, inspect finished parts (including first-piece inspections), and adjust machine settings to guarantee part specifications. Document setup procedures, monitor production runs, and immediately report nonconforming conditions. Conduct routine machine maintenance, replace worn tooling, and execute preventative maintenance to minimize production delays. Safely handle and manage hazardous waste generated within the immediate work area in accordance with safety policies. Leadership & Continuous Improvement Write clear instruction sheets, check sheets, cutter lists, and standard operating instructions to guide shop floor operations. Initiate continuous improvement strategies targeting setup times, cycle times, and machining methods. Mentor, train, and assist less experienced operators with process troubleshooting and evaluation.
