Job Title:
CNC Programmer Job Description Day shift CNC Mastercam Programmer needed for a large valve manufacturer in Costa Mesa, CA. Pay will be based on experience but typically between $35-$45 an hour (can be higher with the experience). This role focuses on programming and supporting CNC mills and lathes (Mazak experience a big plus) in a high-volume production environment using Mastercam. The programmer will create, optimize, and maintain CNC programs, define tooling and process parameters, and support safe, efficient, and high-quality machining operations. Responsibilities Plan machining processes and production run set-ups by determining optimum cutter paths, speeds, and feed rates for CNC mills and lathes. Establish the types of tooling to be used in machining processes, including selecting appropriate tool geometries, grades, and sizes. Recommend all tooling required for manufacturing parts to meet quality, efficiency, and cost objectives. Prepare complete and clear instructions for the set-up and operation of CNC machines, including tool types, sizes, grades, and definitions. Develop new CNC programs using Mastercam to support production of valves and water works components. Perform test runs on new or revised CNC programs to verify part quality, dimensional accuracy, and safe operating conditions. Update, edit, and maintain all CNC programs to reflect engineering changes, process improvements, and tooling updates. Interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate part programming and machining. Perform basic inspection of machined parts to confirm they meet specifications and tolerances. Complete and maintain accurate work records, including program documentation, setup sheets, and production-related information. Maintain CNC computer equipment and related software in proper working order. Collaborate with machinists, operators, and other team members to troubleshoot issues and improve machining processes. Support continuous improvement in machining efficiency, quality, and safety across the production floor. Essential Skills Minimum of 2 to 4 years of CNC programming experience using Mastercam in a production environment. Experience programming CNC mills and lathes in a production setting. 2 to 4 years of experience operating various types of CNC machines in a production environment is desirable. Proficiency with Mastercam for creating, editing, and optimizing CNC programs. Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, including cutter paths, speeds, and feed rates. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Experience performing basic inspection of machined parts to verify dimensions and quality. Knowledge of tooling selection, including tool types, sizes, grades, and appropriate applications. Ability to develop clear setup and operation instructions for CNC machines. Basic computer literacy to maintain and update CNC programs and related records. Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, safe, and reliable programs. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Costa Mesa, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $72000.00 - $93600.00/yr. full benefits, PTO, 401k, dental, vision Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Costa Mesa,CA.
