Operating out of El Cajon, CA, since 1971, this organization supports the defense, aerospace, and energy sectors. Their 19,000-square-foot facility currently hosts a team of 15 professionals and a diverse array of grinding, turning, and milling equipment, with active plans to scale up operations and acquire additional machinery. As a Senior Machinist and Programmer, you will manage the programming, setup, and operation of lathes with live tooling and 3-5 axis mills. You will also play a key role in mentoring junior staff and guiding strategic shop decisions during this period of growth. This role operates on a 1st shift schedule, utilizing a 4x10 format with the potential for optional Friday overtime.

Core Duties:
Foster professional development by coaching and mentoring fellow team members Support business growth by delivering precise and prompt responses to customer RFQs Create and optimize efficient machining workflows Execute the programming, setup, and operation of CNC mills and lathes for both prototyping and production Modify and refine programs directly at the machine interface Verify product quality by conducting thorough inspections to confirm adherence to requirements Analyze technical blueprints to determine necessary tolerances, dimensions, and production instructions Identify and install the appropriate tooling and work-holding fixtures Maintain operational uptime by performing routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting Help maintain a safe working environment that complies with
AS9100/ISO9001
quality standards
Required Background:
Completion of a technical manufacturing certificate or a high school diploma Over a decade of hands-on experience running CNC mill and lathe equipment Proficiency in G & M Code programming Proven background in CNC programming, with SurfCAM skills being highly valued Strong understanding of shop floor procedures and essential safety protocols Collaborative mindset with the ability to communicate effectively across the team This is an ITAR-compliant facility, requiring all candidates to satisfy specific citizenship criteria.
