Job Description

About the Role We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join a premier high-tech precision machining facility located in the San Jose region. This is a fantastic opportunity to advance your career by managing offline and manual programming, as well as the setup and calibration of 3-5 axis CNC milling and turning equipment. You will play a vital role in ensuring that all machinery is perfectly tooled and aligned to deliver high-precision components on schedule. By collaborating with our team of machinists and quality control experts, you will help maintain a highly efficient and productive shop floor. Core Responsibilities Develop CNC mill and lathe programs offline using software such as MasterCAM, Cam Works, or equivalent platforms. Configure CNC equipment for production by selecting appropriate tooling, installing fixtures, and setting offsets. Load, validate, and refine CNC programs to ensure optimal precision. Conduct thorough inspections to confirm that setups align with all technical requirements. Interpret complex blueprints and technical machining schematics to guide production. Production Support Help machine operators improve their efficiency by providing guidance on effective setup processes. Resolve technical challenges related to setups, such as addressing tool wear or making necessary program modifications. Maximize machine performance to ensure consistent repeatability and operational efficiency. Quality and Documentation Ensure all manufactured parts adhere to strict company and client quality benchmarks by utilizing precision gauges, micrometers, and calipers. Maintain detailed setup documentation to streamline the process for future production runs. Uphold rigorous industry quality standards, specifically those related to ISO and AS9100 protocols. Maintenance and Safety Keep your workstation and setup tools organized and clean to support a safe working environment for the entire team. Conduct routine machine maintenance during the setup phase, including monitoring coolant and lubrication levels. Adhere to all safety protocols and utilize required personal protective equipment at all times. Collaboration Partner with engineering and programming teams to optimize cycle times and elevate overall part quality. Contribute insights regarding tooling and fixture design to help improve future production setups. Support the growth of the team by training junior machinists and operators on standard setup procedures. Work Environment This position is based in a standard machine shop environment where you will be exposed to metal shavings, oils, and typical shop noise. The role requires the physical ability to stand for long periods, bend, and lift weights of up to 50 pounds. You will work a standard shift, with the expectation of overtime when necessary to fulfill production goals. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent educational background. Minimum of 3 years of hands-on CNC lathe experience, specifically focused on machine setups. Proven ability to analyze and interpret technical blueprints and machining drawings. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of precision measurement instruments. Strong mechanical aptitude coupled with effective problem-solving capabilities. Preferred Skills Experience operating Daewoo or Fanuc control systems. Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Previous background working within defense, aerospace, or high-precision manufacturing sectors. Familiarity with 5S and Lean manufacturing methodologies.
