Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a CNC Programmer / Shop Floor Lead - Onsite, where you will play a pivotal role in driving precision machining operations and leading our shop floor team to excellence. This hands-on position is perfect for a motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, combining technical expertise with leadership skills. You will be responsible for programming, setting up, and optimizing CNC machines while ensuring seamless production flow and adherence to quality standards. Your expertise will directly impact our ability to deliver high-precision components efficiently and reliably. Duties Develop and modify CNC programs for milling machines, lathes, and other machining centers using CAM software and G-code programming standards. Lead daily shop floor operations, coordinating machine setups, tool changes, and production schedules to maximize efficiency. Inspect machined parts using precision measuring instruments such as bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to ensure compliance with blueprint specifications and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, electrical discharge machining (EDM), or mechanical failures, implementing corrective actions swiftly. Collaborate with design engineers using CAD software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA to review schematics and translate technical drawings into machine instructions. Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setup sheets, inspection reports, and process improvements aligned with lean manufacturing principles. Mentor shop floor staff on best practices for machining techniques, safety protocols, and the use of precision instruments to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Skills Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code for various CNC machinery including mills and lathes. Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, and related simulation applications. Experience with blueprint reading and interpreting schematics with an understanding of GD&T standards. Mechanical aptitude combined with comprehensive understanding of tooling selection, geometry calculations, and machining processes. Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), coordinate measuring machines (CMM), bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments. Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies to optimize workflows and reduce waste on the shop floor. Ability to read schematics and electrical diagrams; basic electrical knowledge is a plus. Strong math skills for precise measurements and calculations essential in high-tolerance manufacturing environments.
