Job Description

Position requires experience as a Machinist in a manufacturing environment. Position produces machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine for first articles, R & D and production parts. The Machinist will also monitor quality by taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, trouble-shooting process, adjusting and reprogramming to ensure Quality Assurance Procedures and processes are met. Operates HAAS, VF3 and VF6 machines. 1. Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three and for-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stock pushers, , indicating vices and tramming heads. 2. Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available, anticipating needed stock, placing and expediting and verifying receipt of stock. 3. Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, conditional switches, calculating requirements. 4. Loads feed mechanism by positioning stock into position; verify settings by measuring position, first-run part, and sample work pieces. 5. Maintain specifications by observing operations, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, trouble-shooting and adjusting and reprogramming. 6. Maintain equipment by replacing worn tools, completing preventive maintenance requirements. 7. Other duties as assigned.
