Job Description

Position Summary:
Responsible for advanced CNC programming, setup, and machining of complex aerospace components, tooling, molds, and trim fixtures using multi-axis and 3-axis CNC equipment. This role requires a high level of independence, strong problem-solving ability, and deep understanding of machining processes, CAD/CAM programming, and tooling design. The ideal candidate can take a project from concept to completion with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Program complex parts and tooling using
CATIA V5
from 3D models, including multi-axis toolpaths (3+2 and simultaneous 5-axis when required)
  • Program 3D and flat pattern parts using AutoCAD and RouterCIM for CNC router applications
  • Independently set up and operate CNC equipment including Komo Router, DMS 5-Axis Machine, Haas VF-9 (3-axis), and Haas UMC-750 (5-axis)
  • Work across Fagor and Fanuc controllers, with the ability to edit, optimize, and troubleshoot programs at the machine
  • Develop efficient machining strategies, including tool selection, feeds and speeds, and toolpath optimization for cycle time and surface finish
  • Machine aluminum and steel components while maintaining tight tolerances and high-quality finishes
Tooling, Fixtures & Process Development:
  • Design, program, and machine trim fixtures, molds, and complex tooling from concept to completion
  • Provide manufacturing input during tooling design and engineering gate reviews
  • Evaluate and improve tooling designs for manufacturability, rigidity, and efficiency
  • Develop and refine machining processes to improve cycle time, tool life, and consistency
Advanced Setup & Machining Expertise:
  • Perform complete machine setups independently, including work offsets, tool offsets, and fixture alignment
  • Apply advanced machining techniques for 3D surfacing and multi-axis machining
  • Troubleshoot issues related to programming, tooling performance, and part quality
Inspection & Quality Control:
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and coaxial indicators
  • Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements
  • Ensure all parts meet required tolerances and quality standards
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with engineering to support tooling design, process validation, and production readiness
  • Provide feedback on design improvements based on machining capabilities and limitations
  • Act as a technical resource for machining best practices
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Strong experience with
CATIA V5 CNC
programming
  • Experience with AutoCAD and RouterCIM (or similar CAM software for routers)
  • Proven experience with multi-axis CNC machining (3-axis, 3+2, and 5-axis)
  • Strong understanding of machining theory, tooling, and material behavior
  • Hands-on experience with both programming and machine setup/operation
  • Experience in aerospace, tooling, or high-precision manufacturing environments preferred
