Lathe Full Job Description Job Title:
CNC Lathe Programmer Job Description This CNC Programmer role is a mission-critical position responsible for restoring and owning lathe programming capability at the North Haven facility. The individual will independently create, modify, optimize, and support CNC lathe programs using Okuma controls, directly enabling production of complex machined firearm components. The role is hands-on, shop-floor based, and requires close collaboration with mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, quality, and operators. This position eliminates a current single-point dependency and allows engineering resources to refocus on core design and manufacturing improvement initiatives. Responsibilities Independently create, modify, and optimize CNC lathe programs using Okuma controls. Enable production of complex machined firearm components. Collaborate with mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, quality, and operators. Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues. Optimize program cycles and improve cycle time. Support production stability, quality, and efficiency. Act as the sole lathe programming authority on site. Partner with mechanical engineers to translate design intent into manufacturable programs. Support new equipment installation, validation, and process prove-out. Essential Skills Proven experience programming CNC lathes in a production environment. Strong, recent experience with Okuma controls. Ability to independently create, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs on the shop floor. Experience machining complex parts with minimal supervision. Strong understanding of GD&T interpretation. U.S. citizenship and ability to access regulated manufacturing areas. Additional Skills & Qualifications Comfortable acting as the sole lathe programming authority on site. Experience supporting new equipment installation and process prove-out. Attention to detail and quality in a regulated environment. Willingness to occasionally travel domestically for equipment testing or vendor support. Work Environment Hands-on manufacturing environment with close daily interaction between engineering and production. Primary work location is the shop floor. Occasional domestic travel may occur in support of new machine purchases, testing, or vendor collaboration. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of North Haven, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75000.00
