Company:
Millennium Machinery Location:
Miami, FL About Millennium Machinery Millennium Machinery is a leading specialized manufacturer of high-precision, robust components essential for heavy equipment and drill rigs that we distribute globally. Our products are engineered to withstand the most demanding operational environments, ensuring superior performance and reliability in the field. We pride ourselves on our deep technical expertise, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and unwavering commitment to quality that defines the core of our brand. Join our dedicated team in Miami and contribute directly to crafting critical parts that power some of the world's toughest machinery.
Job Overview:
Millennium Machinery is seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Programmer / Machinist with a strong background in manufacturing components for heavy equipment and drill rigs. This pivotal role requires a unique blend of advanced CNC programming expertise and hands-on machining proficiency. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can independently program complex, large-scale parts, set up multi-axis CNC machines, and execute machining processes with exceptional precision and efficiency. You will play a critical role in translating demanding engineering designs into tangible, high-quality finished products, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring adherence to the most stringent industry quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
    Advanced CNC Programming & Optimization:
    • Develop, write, and optimize G-code programs for multi-axis CNC milling, turning, and potentially other specialized machine centers (e.g., 3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis, horizontal boring mills, large-format lathes) using advanced CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidCAM, GibbsCAM, Esprit).
    • Interpret complex engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and 3D CAD models (SolidWorks, etc.), including sophisticated Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications, to determine optimal machining strategies for heavy-duty components.
    • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, custom workholding solutions, and machining parameters (speeds, feeds, depth of cut, coolant strategies) tailored for robust materials (e.g., high-strength steels, alloys) to maximize material removal rates, extend tool life, and achieve critical surface finishes and tight tolerances for parts used in drill rigs and heavy equipment.
    • Perform rigorous program simulations, dry runs, and first-part prove-outs to validate toolpaths, prevent collisions, and ensure program integrity and safety, especially with large workpieces.
    • Identify and implement continuous improvements to existing programs and processes to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle times, minimize material waste, and optimize machine utilization in the production of heavy equipment and drill rig components.
    • Maintain and update tooling databases, program libraries, and contribute to best practices for specialized machining.
    Complex Machine Setup & Operation:
    • Perform comprehensive setup of large CNC machines, including loading heavy raw materials, precision installation of tools, setting up complex workholding devices (e.g., custom fixtures, large chucks), and accurately aligning axes.
    • Calibrate and set tool offsets, work offsets, and machine parameters with extreme precision.
    • Load and execute CNC programs, meticulously monitor machine operations, and make real-time, critical adjustments as needed to maintain quality and efficiency during production runs of high-value components.
    • Operate and oversee multiple machines simultaneously to maximize shop productivity, where applicable, ensuring consistent output for demanding production schedules.
    • Conduct routine machine maintenance (e.g., cleaning, lubrication, coolant management) and perform in-depth troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve operational issues, minimizing downtime.
    Rigorous Quality Assurance & Inspection:
    • Perform precise in-process and final inspections of machined components using a wide range of metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, specialized CMM inspection, etc.).
    • Verify that all manufactured components meet the exact specifications, tight tolerances, and stringent quality standards outlined in engineering drawings and quality control procedures for heavy equipment and drill rig parts.
    • Document detailed inspection results, production activities, and any deviations or issues encountered, contributing to comprehensive quality records.
    Advanced Troubleshooting & Problem Solving:
    • Proactively identify and resolve complex machining challenges such as chatter, excessive tool wear, poor surface finish, or critical dimensional inaccuracies specific to heavy-duty materials and large, intricate designs.
    • Troubleshoot machine malfunctions, alarm messages, and sophisticated program errors, making necessary adjustments or escalating complex issues to maintenance or engineering with clear diagnostics.
    • Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges, implement robust corrective actions, and contribute to design for manufacturability improvements for future products.
    Safety & Compliance:
    • Adhere strictly to all company safety guidelines, procedures, and regulations, including proper use of PPE and safe handling of large materials and specialized equipment.
    • Maintain an impeccably clean, organized, and safe work environment, prioritizing safety in all operations.
    • Actively participate in safety training, hazard identification, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    Collaboration & Communication:
    • Communicate effectively and precisely with team members, supervisors, and other departments regarding project status, complex technical issues, and process improvements.
    • Provide technical expertise, mentorship, and guidance to less experienced machinists or operators, fostering a skilled team environment.
    Job Type:
    Full-time Pay:
    $65,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
    Benefits:
401(k) 4% Match 401(k) matching Dental insurance Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Vision insurance
