You will program, set up, and operate a variety of CNC mills and lathes, including Citizen-Miyano and Okuma equipment, using Mastercam and G and M code. You will work from blueprints, engineering drawings, and verbal instructions to produce low-volume, high-precision parts and support engineering in machining prototype components. Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T specifications, and work orders to determine machining requirements and gather appropriate materials. Program CNC mills and lathes using Mastercam, creating programs directly from drawings for a variety of parts and low part runs. Edit and optimize programs using G and M codes and Mastercam to improve efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability. Set up and operate CNC mills and CNC lathes, including Citizen-Miyano and Okuma machines, for both prototype and production work. Perform complete machine setups, including tooling selection, workholding, offsets, and verification of programs prior to running parts. Operate and run assigned machines independently, monitoring performance and making adjustments as needed to maintain part quality and throughput. Perform precise in-process and final quality checks using analog micrometers, calipers, and other manual measuring tools. Work closely with engineering in a prototyping center to machine new products under consideration for production. Follow shop practices and procedures to work efficiently in a job shop environment with a wide variety of parts and frequent changeovers. Troubleshoot machining and programming issues, making corrections to programs, setups, or tooling to resolve problems. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and care for machines, tools, and measuring equipment. Essential Skills At least 5 years of experience as a CNC Programmer/Machinist working on both mill and lathe machines. Proficiency in CNC programming using Mastercam to create programs from drawings and blueprints. Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC mills and CNC lathes in a job shop environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T callouts. Ability to work from both detailed blueprints and verbal instructions. Strong knowledge of G and M code and the ability to edit CNC programs at the machine control. Proficiency with analog micrometers, calipers, and other manual precision measuring tools. Experience working with low part runs and a wide variety of parts in a job shop or prototyping setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating and setting up Citizen-Miyano CNC machines. Experience with Okuma CNC mills and Okuma CNC lathes. Background with manual machining, including Bridgeport-style manual mills and manual lathes. CNC setup experience, including tooling, workholding, and program verification.
