Job Title:
CNC Manufacturing Engineer Job Description We are seeking a skilled CNC Manufacturing Engineer who will be responsible for programming both mills and lathes. This role focuses on creating programs for new products and proving out these programs for production. The engineer will also handle tooling selection and identify process improvements through new programming and tooling changes. Responsibilities Study blueprints, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Select programs if available or program functions to create parts per blueprint by selecting fields to enter part and tool setups, considering tools needed, tolerances, material type, quantity, and resources available. Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media. Run trials to verify the accuracy of machine settings or programmed data control. Perform first-piece and in-process inspections by checking dimensions of parts per blueprint using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and tape measures. Essential Skills 5+ years of prior CNC machining experience. Experience with mill and/or lathe CNC machining, specifically metal. Minimum of an Associate degree. CAD/CAM experience, with Mastercam highly preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in CNC programming, machining, and manufacturing engineering. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam. Work Environment The role is based in a metal machining and fabrication shop that produces parts for heavy trucks and off-road vehicles. The facility includes around 20 CNC machine cells, robotic weld equipment, and various other fabrication cells. The position involves a mix of working on the floor with CNC equipment and CAD/CAM programming. This dynamic environment offers opportunities to learn beyond CNC engineering and programming, including exposure to welding and robotic cells, allowing you to make a significant impact on production methods. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Wayne, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
