This role is ideal for an experienced machinist who enjoys working directly with engineers, programming CNC equipment, developing CAM workflows, and contributing to the full lifecycle of custom mechanical equipment. This is a hands-on position where you will not only machine precision components but also participate in assembly, debugging, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. You will be embedded at the client's facility, working day-to-day alongside their engineering team to fabricate high-precision components, support equipment builds, and provide direct feedback on design for manufacturability.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, day shift (core hours 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM, with flexibility on start/end times: 5 AM to 6 PM operation hours) Role Breakdown ~40% CNC machining & CAM programming (with opportunity to improve and expand their CAM processes) ~40% Mechanical assembly and equipment build support ~10% Manual machining (lathe and Bridgeport) ~10% Fryer mill operation (Siemens-controlled) Key Responsibilities Operate and maintain CNC and manual machining equipment (mills and lathes) Program CNC machines (Hurco) using Autodesk Inventor & Inventor CAM Machine aluminum, stainless steel, and engineering plastics (e.g., Delrin, PEEK) Produce tight-tolerance components (±0.001" or better when required) Read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T Utilize 3D CAD models to support CAM programming and machining strategy Identify manufacturability challenges and collaborate with engineers on solutions Support machinery assembly, testing, and debugging Manage priorities to meet project timelines in a fast-paced, custom environment Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace Required Qualifications 5+ years of machining experience (CNC, assembly, and manual machining) Proven proficiency with creating and programming from Autodesk Inventor CAM (minimum 3 years) Experience and ability to operate Hurco CNC machines (WinMax preferred) Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills Demonstrated ability to machine to tight tolerances Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and organization Professional presence and strong communication skills Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams High school diploma or equivalent (trade/vocational training preferred) Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screening. Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Experience with ProtoTRAK or Siemens CNC controls Familiarity with Autodesk Vault or similar PDM systems (2+ years) Experience in regulated industries (pharmaceutical, medical, aerospace, ISO/FDA environments) Continuous improvement mindset; familiarity with 5S / lean manufacturing Willingness to support occasional overtime (infrequent and project-driven)
