Job Description

CNC Manufacturing Process Programmer Indianapolis, IN 46227 $35 - $50 an hour $35 - $50 an hour Shape how parts are made Own the translation of complex drawings and models into stable, efficient CNC processes that accelerate NPI and improve production performance. Your impact Build robust CNC programs from engineering drawings, 3D models, and specifications. Engineer fixtures that enable quick-change setups and consistent results. Drive cross-functional alignment with engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality, and operations. Specify tooling, speeds/feeds, cutter types, and machining strategies tailored to materials and tolerances. Author setup sheets and process documentation for repeatability and knowledge capture. Prove out first-article parts and verify conformity prior to release. Continuously improve programs, tooling choices, and methods to lift quality, efficiency, and throughput. Coach machinists and facilitate smooth handoffs from development into production. Collaborate to troubleshoot and resolve process and quality challenges quickly. Evaluate emerging tools and technologies with suppliers and technical partners. Support workforce development through training and knowledge sharing. Advance team capability by piloting new programming approaches and training pathways. Complete production reporting (time, attendance, inventory) accurately and on time. Uphold 6S discipline and all safety policies; maintain a clean and safe area. Perform additional related tasks as assigned. How you grow here Lead NPI program strategy from first-article to capability runs and final handoff. Experiment with cutting-edge tooling and CAM workflows to set new benchmarks. Influence standards for documentation, fixtures, and best-practice machining. What you bring 5+ years of CNC programming experience, or 3+ years with a technical diploma. Proficiency with CAM platforms such as Mastercam, GibbsCAM, or Autodesk Fusion 360. Background programming 3-, 4-, and/or 5-axis CNC machines. Mastery of tooling selection, tool wear behavior, and metal-cutting strategies. Experience leading programming through first-article, capability, and production release. Ability to perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions for dimensional, surface finish, and machining issues. Advanced print reading with expert-level GD&T; knowledge of inspection approaches and military specifications. Broad understanding of manufacturing processes and workflow.
Preferred:
lean manufacturing and quality system experience (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, AS9100D).
