JOB DESCRIPTION FOR CNC PROGRAMMER/MACHINIST JOB STATUS

(FLSA): Hourly, Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO

Operations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The CNC Programmer/Machinist is responsible for manufacturing precision parts from raw material and for programming, set-up and maintenance of CNC Machinery for production and research & development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Handles programming, and oversees operation and maintenance of all CNC Machinery. Maintains inventory of CNC tooling and other tooling required for the machining operations. Responsible for supervising machine shop when Operations Manager is not present. Responsible for all training involved with operating and programming the CNC Machinery. Use fixed gauges, computer, calculator, copy machine and production software, as necessary. Know the Quality Policy which is: J. D. Work closely with management and fellow employees to keep an "open line" of communications. Work from verbal and written instructions for assigned tasks as directed or assigned by his/her supervisor. Responsible to work all hours or to supervise second/third shifts, as needed. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, safe condition. Detect and report improper operating or faulty equipment and any unusual conditions to the Operations Manager or another management representative. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED equivalent Five (5) years experience with CNC programming and machinery operation experience in a manufacturing environment. Mechanical common sense with some experience on machines (drill presses, lathes, etc.) desired; including, but not limited to, extensive CNC operation and programming preferred.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES

Above average written and verbal communication skills. Strong aptitude for mathematical, mechanical and CNC programming including a solid, basic knowledge of tooling. Ability to read parts prints and precision measuring instruments (micrometers, dial calipers, etc.) Willingness to cross-train. Ability to solve problems, to prioritize and meet deadlines. Must be self-motivated and proficient in handling multiple tasks at one time.

EQUIPMENT USED CNC

Machinery (such as Vertical and Horizontal Machining Centers and CNC Lathes), other machinery (Single and Multi-chuck Drill Presses, Band Saw, Mills, Grinders, etc.), Measuring Instruments, Hand & Power Tools, Pallet Jack and Forklift.
