SolidWorks Full Job Description Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Programmer to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing CNC programs to ensure precise and efficient machining operations. Your expertise will help drive production quality, reduce waste, and improve overall manufacturing processes. Develop and write CNC programs for various machines such as CNC milling machines and CNC lathes using CAM software (Mastercam). Interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate machining processes. Set up and calibrate CNC machines, including Fanuc controls, ensuring proper tooling, fixtures, and safety measures are in place. Perform toolpath verification and simulation to optimize machining parameters for efficiency and precision. Develop new machining methods, processes, and technologies that improve throughput, reduce cycle times, and maximize tool life across all CNC equipment. Computes angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to machine part. Determine workflow of components through CNC equipment. Write instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine. Revise existing programs to current technology practices and efficiencies with minimal amounts of setup. Other duties as assigned. Skills:
Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software including SolidWorks and Mastercam. Deep understanding of blueprint reading, schematics, GD&T principles, and geometric tolerances to produce accurate parts. Mechanical knowledge related to tooling selection, electrical discharge machining (EDM), machining strategies, and fixture design. Experience with Lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes and eliminate waste. Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and micrometers for quality control. Ability to interpret schematics and electrical diagrams; basic electrical knowledge is a plus. Strong math skills including geometry calculations necessary for complex part programming.
