programming Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Programmer/Machinist Lead to join our dynamic manufacturing team. This is a hands-on role to lead the programming and operation of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, including lathes and milling machines. As a leader, you will mentor team members, optimize machining workflows through lean manufacturing principles, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. This is an exciting opportunity to take the next step in your career, with direct input in the direction of the Machining Department for our growing company. Duties Develop, review, and optimize CNC programs using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software to ensure precise machining operations. Lead the setup and operation of CNC milling machines and CNC lathes, ensuring all equipment functions correctly and efficiently. Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical drawings to accurately produce parts that meet strict specifications. Utilize precision measuring instruments such as bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), micrometers, and bore gauges to verify part dimensions during and after machining. Implement lean manufacturing techniques to improve workflow efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality across machining processes. Troubleshoot machine issues related to electrical discharge machining (EDM), tooling setups, or mechanical failures with a focus on rapid resolution. Mentor and train junior machinists on best practices in CNC programming, setup procedures, safety protocols, and quality control standards. Support sales with quoting and estimating prototype and production projects. Research, evaluate, and recommend new CNC equipment, tooling, and technologies Lead implementation of new machines or process improvements. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and cost reduction. Maintain awareness of industry trends, cutting tools, and machining innovations. Ensure parts meet print specifications and quality ISO standards Collaborate with Quality team on inspection plans and corrective actions Maintain proper documentation, setup sheets, and process standards Experience Proven experience operating and programming CNC machines including mills and lathes in a manufacturing environment. Strong proficiency with CAD/CAM software for designing parts and generating toolpaths. Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, GD&T standards, and geometric calculations essential for precision machining. Hands-on experience with CNC programming languages such as G-code or M-code. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes while maintaining high-quality output. Mechanical knowledge of tooling selection, fixture design, and precision measurement instruments. Ability to interpret schematics and electrical diagrams related to CNC machinery maintenance or troubleshooting is a plus. Join us if you're ready to lead with precision!
