We're looking for an experienced programmer who wants to help build a world-class manufacturing operation—not simply generate CNC code. Position Summary We are seeking an experienced CNC Manufacturing Programmer with strong Mastercam expertise to lead programming and machining process development for our milling department. This position goes beyond CAM programming. The successful candidate will develop efficient machining strategies, create standardized setup documentation, collaborate closely with setup personnel and machinists, and continuously improve our manufacturing processes to reduce setup times, improve quality, and maximize spindle utilization. Primary Responsibilities Program complex 3-axis and 3+1 milling operations using Mastercam. Develop efficient machining strategies for complex 3D geometry. Utilize high-speed machining techniques to maximize productivity and tool life. Design and optimize toolpaths for accuracy, surface finish, and cycle time.
Create detailed setup sheets including:
Tool lists Fixture documentation Work offsets Critical setup notes Inspection requirements Work directly with setup operators to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing challenges. Improve existing programs through cycle time reduction and process optimization. Select tooling and cutting parameters appropriate for material and machine capability. Support first-article production and process validation. Maintain programming standards, tool libraries, and manufacturing documentation. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives throughout the shop. QualificationsRequired 5+ years of CNC programming experience. Advanced Mastercam experience. Strong understanding of 3D surface machining. Experience with high-speed machining strategies. Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and CAD models. Strong understanding of GD&T. Experience selecting tooling, holders, and machining strategies. Ability to troubleshoot machining and setup issues on the production floor. Excellent communication skills and willingness to mentor others. Preferred Experience with 4th-axis or 5-axis machining. Experience with probing systems. Experience with modern high-performance tooling. Knowledge of fixture design. Experience with ERP or manufacturing documentation systems. Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience. Reduce cycle times without sacrificing quality. Build standardized programming templates and machining practices. Become the technical resource for programming and manufacturing process development.
