Job Description

Lathe Machinist/Programmer About us We are a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing company that values precision, innovation, and teamwork. Unlike large corporate environments, our operation offers a hands-on culture where every team member's expertise directly impacts our success. We handle a high mix of custom and short-run production, giving our machinists the opportunity to take total ownership of their work from blueprint to finished part. We are a collaborative, growth-oriented family/team enviornment where your ideas and skills are truly heard.
Position Overview :
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled CNC Lathe Machinist/Programmer. The ideal candidate is an autonomous problem-solver who can take a blueprint, plan the machining process, select the tooling, write or edit G-code, set up the machine, and prove out parts. If you take pride in producing high-quality components and enjoy working in an environment that requires critical thinking, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities Programming & Process Planning:
Interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and GD&T requirements. Determine optimal machining strategies, select tooling/fixtures, and write or edit G-code programs directly at the machine or via CAM software such as Mastercam or GibbsCAM.
Setup & Operation:
Independently set up CNC lathes, load raw materials, set tool offsets, and prove out new programs safely.
Quality Control:
Conduct first-article and in-process inspections using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and optical comparators.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve machining issues (e.g., chatter, tool wear, dimensional variations) by adjusting feeds, speeds, and tooling.
Shop Collaboration:
Work with the production team to improve cycle times, part repeatability, and overall process efficiency.
Maintenance:
Maintain a clean, organized workspace and perform routine preventative maintenance on CNC equipment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience:
3-5+ years of proven, hands-on experience setting up and programming CNC lathes.
Programming Knowledge:
Strong understanding of G-code/M-code. Proficiency with controls such as Fanuc is strongly preferred.
Blueprint Reading:
Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints and advanced GD&T.
Tooling & Workholding:
Solid understanding of cutting tools, inserts, chuck jaws, and workholding strategies.
Pay:
$27.00 - $32.00 per hour
Benefits:
