Job Description
CNC Turning Programmer-Operator (Automotive Precision) Join our automotive manufacturing team and take ownership of programming, setup, operation, and upkeep of CNC turning equipment to deliver precision components that meet stringent automotive specifications. If you are meticulous, mechanically savvy, and fluent in CAD/CAM and G-code, youll feel right at home here. A day in this role You start by reviewing the production schedule and customer specs, then load and verify programs for the next run. Tooling, fixtures, and machine offsets are dialed in, followed by a dry run and a careful first-article inspection. As jobs run, you monitor dimensions and surface finish, tweak feeds and speeds for better tool life, and capture improvements to shave seconds off cycle time. Throughout the shift, you interpret blueprints and GD&T, operate CNC lathes (and other machining centers as needed), and validate quality with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, and other metrology tools. You wrap up by documenting changes, maintaining the machines, and handing off a stable, repeatable process to the next job. What youll handle Develop, edit, and optimize CNC lathe programs. Set up CNC lathes and other machining centers: tooling, fixtures, workholding, and machine offsets. Validate new programs via dry runs and first-article inspections. Continuously improve code and process parameters to reduce cycle time and extend tool life. Operate CNC equipment to produce precision automotive components to schedule. Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical documentation. Monitor machining operations for consistent quality and dimensional accuracy. Perform in-process inspections with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, and related metrology equipment. Qualifications Required 3+ years of CNC machining experience in a production environment. Strong capability to read/interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions. Proficiency in G-code programming and CAM platforms (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, Esprit). Hands-on experience with CNC lathes. Solid understanding of tooling, feeds/speeds, and materials such as steel, aluminum, and castings. Preferred Background in automotive or other high-precision manufacturing. Familiarity with IATF 16949 or
