The ideal candidate is extremely hands-on with solid experience in CNC machining. The successful candidate will provide collaborative communication between cross functional departments while applying knowledge and experience to innovate and improve machining processes.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Experienced with both 3-axis and 5-axis mills. Work from solid models, technical drawings, engineering sketches, and other such documentation to produce a variety of prototype and manufacturing parts. Interpret specifications, drawings, rough sketches, and verbal instructions to determine operation sequences.
FUNCTIONS
Ability to program 3 Axis and 5 Axis CNC machines using WorkNC software. To read, understand, and create technical mechanical drawings, including orthographic projections, sectional views, part notes and dimensions and tolerances. Must be able to read precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, depth gages). Machining of all types of materials (aluminum, steel, graphite materials, etc.) Ensure we are machining and utilizing the machines as efficiently as possible. Ensure necessary information is available and programs are ready before jobs are going onto the machines. Promote good housekeeping by ensuring a clean and orderly workspace.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Typical qualifications would be: Minimum 5 years' experience as a programmer/machinist in a manufacturing environment. Experience with WorkNC software. Understanding of milling, cutting, etc. and detailed functional knowledge of most common machine shop tools and machine helpful. Ability to read, understand, and create technical mechanical drawings, including orthographic projections, sectional views, part notes and dimensions and tolerances. Must be reliable with a good work ethic. Ability to work assigned hours plus overtime as needed. Good communication skills. Emphasis is placed on continuous process improvement and efficiency. The employee may be exposed to vibration. The employee may be exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
