Job Overview:
AEONrv is seeking a driven and detail-oriented CAD Drafter & CNC Programmer (Drafter/Programmer) to join our manufacturing team where you will help build the AEONrv from start to finish. The Drafter/Programmer will create detailed CAD models, engineering drawings in SolidWorks and CNC programs for our 3-axis CNC wood machining center utilizing Swood (SolidWorks integrated CAM). Additionally, this role will help maintain a current, accurate library of parts and assemblies utilizing SolidWorks PDM, along with a hardcopy library for selected drawings. The ideal candidate will be highly self-motivated and eager to join our team where they will utilize their deep skillset to create optimized CNC programs and accurate CAD data while also developing new skills to implement efficiency, quality and safety. Key Areas of Responsibility Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings of components, sub-assemblies and assemblies utilizing SolidWorks. Develop, test and optimize efficient CNC programs for our 3-axis CNC wood machining center utilizing Swood CAM software. Develop and improve nests to optimize material usage and part quality. Translate conceptual designs and engineering specifications into accurate, manufacturable and optimized CAD models. Perform design modifications and revisions as required, maintaining meticulous revision control and BOM accuracy. Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management teams to ensure all design requirements are met. Simulate and verify CNC programs to ensure efficient, error-free and safe operation to minimize material waste and machine downtime. Troubleshoot and resolve programming issues. Collaborate with machine operators and production team members to optimize manufacturing processes. Maintain accurate records of programs, tooling and machine parameters. Consistently work with an eye toward safety and continuous improvement for self and others. Keep all work areas clean and tidy throughout the workday. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Critical Competencies Competency with SolidWorks CAD software for 3D modelling and 2D drafting. Competency with CAM programming, preferably with integrated CAM systems. Strong foundational understanding of mechanical engineering principles, manufacturing processes and GD&T. Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and create complex engineering drawings and technical specifications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with specific ability to accurately convey technical information. Experience utilizing ERP software. Self-motivated and reliable with excellent communication skills and good analytical problem-solving ability. Action oriented, self-starter and fast learner with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting in accordance with the company culture and values. Possess a strong sense of work ethic, personal responsibility and commitment to work outcomes, particularly toward quality and safety. Have the desire to learn and grow within the organization. Required Education and Experience Associate's degree in engineering or a related field. Bachelor's or Advanced engineering degree desirable. Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Minimum 3 years of CAD experience in a professional environment, SolidWorks preferred. Minimum 2 years of CAM programming experience in a professional environment. Preference given to experience in a CNC wood and/or composite manufacturing environment.
