Job Description
CNC Machinist and Programmer - 1st Shift - Pay up to $32/hr Job Description This role involves setting up, operating, and programming CNC lathes with Fanuc controls to produce precision components from engineering blueprints. You will program directly at the machine, perform complete setups, and ensure all parts meet strict quality and dimensional standards. In a small, collaborative team where everyone wears multiple hats, you will also support other areas such as the stock room, assembly, and shipping as needed. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC lathe machines to produce precision components according to engineering blueprints and specifications. Program CNC lathes directly at the machine using Fanuc controls and 3-axis capabilities. Perform complete machine setups from start to finish, including tooling selection, fixture setup, and machine calibration. Use Mastercam and G&M code knowledge to create, adjust, and optimize CNC programs at the machine. Verify that all parts meet quality standards and dimensional accuracy using appropriate measurement tools. Follow all safety protocols and operational guidelines while working with CNC equipment and in the shop. Maintain organized storage and accurate distribution of finished parts to support efficient workflow. Collaborate closely with team members to meet production goals and deadlines in a small-team environment. Assist in other areas of the operation, including stock room, assembly, shipping, and related tasks, as needed. Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and well-kept shop environment. Participate in performance reviews and continuous improvement efforts after the probationary period. Essential Skills Minimum of 1 year of experience operating CNC lathe equipment. Hands-on experience with CNC lathe setup and operation. Ability to program CNC machines directly at the machine (at-machine CNC programming). Experience working with Fanuc controls on CNC equipment. Understanding of 3-axis machine operations. Strong understanding of G and M codes for CNC programming. Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints accurately. Proficiency with precision measurement tools to verify part dimensions and quality. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and proper equipment handling. Ability to work effectively as a team player in a small shop where employees support multiple functions. Willingness to perform both machining and non-machining tasks throughout the workday. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Mastercam for CNC programming is highly beneficial. Comfort working in a small team environment where everyone wears multiple hats. Flexibility to assist in stock room, assembly, shipping, and other operational areas as needed. Ability to adapt to new equipment, including a new CNC machine being introduced to the shop. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with coworkers and support production goals. Work Environment This is a first-shift position with hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., totaling 40 hours per week. The shop is climate-controlled with both air conditioning and heat, providing a comfortable environment year-round. The facility is extremely well lit with new LED lighting, and the team takes pride in maintaining a very clean, organized, and well-spaced layout. The shop currently operates a manual lathe and will be adding a new CNC machine, creating an environment that values modern equipment and continuous improvement. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $54080.00 - $64480.00/yr.
