Job Description

Summary of Position:
The CNC Milling Programmer / Setup Machinist is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC milling machines at AMD Fabricating to produce precision, build‑to‑print components. This role owns assigned milling jobs from program development or modification through setup and production. The position requires at‑the‑machine programming using G‑code and/or conversational programming while ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety.
Job Duties:
  • Program CNC milling machines at the machine control using G‑code and/or conversational programming
  • Modify and adjust CNC programs as needed to support setup accuracy and production efficiency
  • Set up CNC milling machines including tooling, fixtures, work offsets, and job preparation
  • Operate CNC milling machines to produce parts in accordance with customer drawings and internal operational drawings
  • Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T to ensure accurate part production
  • Perform first‑article, in‑process, and final inspections using manual precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
  • Adjust offsets, feeds, speeds, and cutting parameters during setup and production as required
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, material, and process issues to minimize downtime, scrap, and rework
  • Maintain accurate production, setup, and inspection documentation
  • Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition
  • Follow all safety procedures and promote safe machining practices
Position Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC milling machines
  • Ability to program at the CNC machine control using G‑code and/or conversational programming
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand GD&T
  • Strong working knowledge of milling processes, tooling selection, and machining principles
  • Experience using manual precision measuring instruments
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and consistency
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot machining and setup issues
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work on foot for extended periods
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry materials and tooling up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to safely work in a machining and fabrication environment
Safety:
  • Steel toe or composite toe footwear required
