Job Description

Store Fixture Manufacturer located in Northeast Philadelphia is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Programmer / Machine Operator to support our woodworking and fixture production. This is a hands-on dual-role position that combines CNC programming with machine operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and optimizing CNC programs while also setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC machinery to support daily production. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to translate engineering drawings into precise machining instructions while ensuring quality parts are produced efficiently on the shop floor. Qualified candidates must be self-motivated, highly detail-oriented, and possess a strong understanding of wood processing, machining techniques, tooling geometry, and materials. Candidates should be comfortable splitting their time between programming and operating CNC equipment as production demands require. Key Responsibilities Perform both CNC programming and hands-on machine operation, balancing programming duties with daily production requirements. Load and unload sheet goods and materials onto CNC equipment. Set up machines, verify tooling, fixtures, and material alignment prior to production. Run production jobs, inspect finished parts, and make programming or machine adjustments as necessary. Assist with machine changeovers and support production schedules to minimize downtime. Cross-train and provide operational support throughout the CNC department as needed. Create, revise, and maintain CNC programs for machinery including Biesse point-to-point systems, nested base routers, and Weeke BHX machines Interpret technical drawings, and specifications to develop accurate machining programs Utilize CAM software such as Alphacam, WoodWOP, BiesseWorks, Microvellum, and/or Aspan Optimize programs for efficiency, accuracy, cycle time, and tooling utilization Set up and support the operation of CNC machines, including point-to-point machines, flat table routers, and vertical format machines Perform test runs and adjust programs to ensure parts meet quality and dimensional standards Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues Monitor machine performance and make program adjustments as needed Maintain proper tooling selection, tool life management, and material handling practices Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and company procedures Maintain accurate records of programs, revisions, and machining processes Identify and implement continuous improvements in programming methods, tooling performance, and production efficiency Manage and oversee all tooling for CNC department Provide technical guidance and training to CNC operators Required Skills & Qualifications Strong understanding of CNC programming, machining techniques, and manufacturing processes 3-7 years of CNC programming experience Must be willing and able to work in a dual-role environment performing both CNC programming and machine operation. Ability to lift and maneuver sheet goods and finished components throughout the workday. Comfortable working on the production floor in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Proficiency in CAM software (Alphacam, WoodWOP, BiesseWorks, Microvellum, and/or Aspan) Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Knowledge of G-code and M-code fundamentals Strong mathematical skills, including geometry and measurements Experience using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) Solid understanding of materials (wood, laminates, composites, plastics) Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet production deadlines Effective communication and teamwork skills Basic computer skills (file management, program transfers, ERP systems) Familiarity with 5S and lean manufacturing principles Preferred / Additional Skills Experience with Autodesk Inventor and/or AutoCAD Ability to perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing or millwork environment Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to process improvement
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
