OVERVIEW
Cadrex is searching for a CNC Set Up/Programmer III to set up, program utilizing CAD/CAM software, and operate conventional, special purpose, and CNC Machining Centers to ready machines to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality machined parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up and operate CNC machines for production runs, including selecting tooling, loading materials, and securing workpieces Interpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications to develop CNC programs for milling, turning, drilling, and other machining operations Program CNC machines using CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM) to generate toolpaths, optimize machining sequences, and maximize efficiency Conduct test runs and verify program accuracy by performing trial cuts and measurements on sample workpieces Lead and coordinate machining projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and communication with stakeholders Monitor machining processes and make adjustments as needed to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to production schedules Troubleshoot complex machining issues and develop innovative solutions to optimize performance. Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality control teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization Train and mentor junior CNC operators and programmers on advanced setup and programming techniques Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged components Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times, including proper handling and operation of CNC machines and equipment
Requirements:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience setting up and programming CNC machines in a manufacturing environment preferred Expertise in CNC programming languages, such as G-code and M-code, and proficiency in CAD/CAM software Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, materials, and surface finishes Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, models, and technical specifications Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex machining issues and optimize CNC programs Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision and accuracy Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to lead and coordinate machining projects Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and procedures
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred 2-year technical certification and equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of degree
