Job Title:
CNC Programmer Job Description This role focuses on developing and optimizing CAM programs for multi-axis CNC machine tools to support new product development and accurate quotations. You will lead the implementation of best-practice machining and tooling applications, standardize processes, and collaborate closely with the shop floor to ensure efficient, high-quality production. The position requires a strong technical background in CNC programming, metal cutting applications, and GD&T, along with a commitment to safety and teamwork. Responsibilities Develop CAM programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC mills to support new product development and quotation activities. Collaborate with the shop to identify efficient workholding methods and material machining practices that improve productivity and quality. Lead the team in implementing best-practice machining and tooling applications designed to reduce setup times and cycle times. Create and maintain standard processes for setup documents, drawings, tooling specifications, job aids, and work instructions. Review all programming media prior to release to the shop floor to minimize disruptions and ensure accuracy. Manage the programming schedule and coordinate personnel to meet or exceed delivery expectations. Lead and collaborate in root cause analysis and investigations, and implement effective corrective actions. Work with cross-functional teams to build and execute plans for new and existing projects. Develop strong working relationships with leading metal cutting application engineers in the industry to stay current with best practices and emerging technologies. Promote and maintain a strong safety mindset in all tasks and environments. Actively contribute to a team-oriented culture by encouraging and assisting team members and sharing new ideas for continuous improvement. Essential Skills Associate's degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering, or Computer Science. Proficiency with CATIA V5 and/or Mastercam for offline CNC programming. Experience programming 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC mills. Five (5) years of offline CNC programming experience. Seven (7) years of experience in metal cutting applications. In-depth knowledge of machining stainless steels, titanium, and alloy steels. Experience working with Fanuc, Mazak, Siemens, Okuma, and Haas CNC controls. Strong understanding and practical application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Solid skills in algebra and trigonometry as applied to machining and CNC programming. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Strong familiarity with machine shop best practices and standards. Ability to manage multiple programming projects and meet delivery timelines. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and process control. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience collaborating with metal cutting application engineers to optimize tooling and processes. Demonstrated ability to develop standardized documentation such as setup sheets, tooling lists, and work instructions. background in new product introduction and quotation support in a manufacturing environment. Experience leading or participating in root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with shop personnel, engineers, and other stakeholders. Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to share ideas and support continuous improvement. Comfort working with multi-axis CNC machine tools in a high-precision environment. Work Environment This is an on-site role based in a manufacturing facility in Fort Worth. You will work directly with multi-axis CNC mills and controls such as Fanuc, Mazak, Siemens, Okuma, and Haas, using CATIA V5 and Mastercam as primary programming tools. The environment is hands-on and production-focused, with close collaboration between the programming team and the shop floor to support new product development and ongoing projects. As a contract-to-hire opportunity, the position offers a path to longer-term employment based on performance and business needs. Safety is a core priority, and you will work within a structured machine shop setting that follows established best practices for metal cutting, tooling, and process control. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Worth, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $52.00/hr.
