This role performs body repair, welding, surface preparation, and automotive painting in accordance with safety, quality, and time standards. The technician works closely with supervisors and other shop personnel to complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high workmanship standards. Key Responsibilities Restore damaged and older vehicles to original condition, including structural integrity, function, and appearance. Remove, repair, or replace damaged body parts using hand tools and powered equipment. Fit, weld, and install replacement parts; grind and smooth welded areas as required. Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, priming, and sealing. Mix, tint, and apply paint using spray-guns and spray booth equipment. Apply primers, base coats, and clear coats to achieve proper color match and finish. Remove damaged vehicle sections using metal-cutting tools, grinders, and wrenches. Fill dents and imperfections using plastic fillers or solder as needed. File, grind, sand, and smooth repaired surfaces using hand and power tools. Review damage reports and assist with preparing or reviewing repair cost estimates. Follow supervisor instructions regarding repair scope, methods, and time allocations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with shop safety policies. Properly handle and dispose of paints, chemicals, and hazardous materials according to regulations.
