Supervisor Compensation :
$29.00-$34.00/hour Job Summary Help showcase the superior aesthetics and durability of our products in our Lafayette R&D facility. The Industrial Paint Technician prepares surfaces and applies high-quality finishes to prototype cabinetry components, supporting product validation, testing, and demonstrations for the cabinetry industry. Key Responsibilities Operate and maintain Graco paint sprayers, including HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) systems, to produce consistent, high-quality finishes. Prepare surfaces through cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming for optimal adhesion and finish quality. Mix, match, and apply primers, paints, stains, clear coats, and specialty coatings using spray equipment, brushes, and rollers. Evaluate substrates and understand the proper coating systems and application methods required for different materials. Set up and maintain finishing tools and spray booths within the R&D environment. Inspect finished parts for consistency, coverage, texture, color, and durability; perform touch-ups as part of iterative validation. Document finishing processes, performance observations, and test results. Strictly follow safety protocols for coatings, solvents, and hazardous materials, including proper PPE, ventilation, and disposal. Coordinate with fabrication and assembly teams to support prototype timelines.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED; technical training in painting, coatings, or woodworking finishing preferred. 6-10 years of experience in industrial painting, cabinetry finishing, or industrial coating applications. Hands-on experience operating Graco paint sprayers, including HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) spray systems, is required. Experience with paint matching, color mixing, and achieving premium-quality finishes. Strong understanding of surface preparation, coating selection, and application techniques across a variety of substrates. Knowledge of safety regulations for paints, coatings, and solvents. Physical ability to stand for long periods, wear required PPE (including respirators), and work in a controlled finishing area. Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
Preferred Skills :
Experience finishing engineered wood, composites, cabinetry materials, or furniture components. Spray gun certification or advanced coatings expertise. Experience with epoxy, polyurethane, and other industrial coating systems. Exceptional color matching skills for premium aesthetic results. Why Join Our Team?
