Job Description

Everett J. Prescott, Inc.'s sister company, Quality Water Products located in So., Barre, MA, is looking for a full-time Painter to join their team! Quality Water Products is a proud member of the EJP family. For over 40 years, Team QWP has been a trusted source of leading-edge products and custom fabricated ductile iron pipe for the water and wastewater industries. This person will be responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing pipes and related equipment using paints, protective coatings, and specialized finishes. The role involves surface preparation, application of coatings, quality inspections, and adherence to safety standards to protect pipes from corrosion, environmental damage, and wear.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare pipe surfaces by cleaning, sanding, grinding, blasting, or removing old coatings. Apply primers, paints, varnishes, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment. Mix paints and coatings according to manufacturer specifications. Inspect surfaces before and after painting to ensure quality standards are met. Measure coating thickness and verify proper coverage. Operate and maintain painting tools, spray guns, and related equipment. Follow project specifications, work orders, and coating procedures. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Identify and report defects, corrosion, or damage to pipes and equipment. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in industrial painting, pipe coating, or related work. Knowledge of painting techniques, coating materials, and surface preparation methods. Ability to read and interpret work instructions and technical drawings. Familiarity with safety procedures and hazardous material handling. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, lift materials, and work in confined spaces when required.
SKILLS:
Attention to detail. Hand-eye coordination. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of corrosion prevention methods. Time management and organizational skills. Strong commitment to workplace safety.
