Job Description
Coatings and Finishing Technicians - Thomaston and Camden Lyman-Morse has openings for people with high-end coatings and finish skills to work with the marine service department, yacht construction, and our advanced technologies division. Work will consist of surface preparations and coatings including fairing, sanding, painting, and other finishing procedures on yachts and small parts. The products used can range from epoxy to polyurethanes and other marine finishing products, with an emphasis on interior and exterior varnish work. Paint applications are done by brush as well as spraying.
Experience required:
2-5 years of marine painting or varnish experience; may substitute high-end automotive prep and finish experience. Also working knowledge of airless pumps and traditional spray methods is helpful. Key Responsibilities Understand the appropriate preparation of wood, fiberglass, metals and composites, such as cleaning, sanding, and smoothing Proper use and application of varnish or paint to achieve the desired results Know the different techniques to apply the coating being assigned Must have sound knowledge of the preparation and application of various solvents and marine paints and varnishes Proper use and maintenance of tools, brushes and sprayers. (airless and HVLP) Must understand the proper and necessary use of personal protective equipment and materials Design and build staging according to OSHA standards Maintain excellent quality on all work completed Correct and safe handling of all paints, thinners, solvents and additives Must understand the requirements for proper disposal of hazardous materials (i.e. solvents, paint related waste). Coordination with Safety Officer on disposal of materials Must understand how to properly store materials, contain particulate matter and have an understanding of environmental regulations Maintain a good work ethic and attitude with co-workers, supervisors and customers Schedule Four 9 -hour days with a half day every Friday Come work for a classic, well-established boatbuilding and marine service company on the Maine Coast where you'll look forward to going to work each day.Similar jobs in Thomaston, ME
