SUMMARY:
The Painter position is responsible for the painting of cabs and parts for Spartan's emergency response cabs and bodies.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform preventive maintenance on paint equipment
Identify and spot repair paint defects in accordance to appearance specification
Verify cleaning chemical concentrations
Pre-treat and prep cabs and parts for paint
Spray base coat and clear coat
Mix tints following a formula to match paint codes
Maintain accurate documentation of paint codes
Coordinate material movement within the paint area
Load and unload parts on racking or carts per process documentation
Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete duties in assigned area
Read and follow detailed operator instructions, installation drawings, blueprints, etcetera, as required by a particular area
Self-check work and inspect prior processes
Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, as required
Meet production goals
Maintain a clean and safe work area
Initiate process improvements
Support 5S in work area
Communicate with manufacturing and other cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issues
Work in close proximity with customer, as needed
Solve complex problems with minimal assistance
QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent attendance
Positive attitude
Strong and consistent attention to detail
Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task
Team oriented
Basic computer skills are required
No critical shortcomings on last performance review
Two (2) years of Automotive Paint experience
Demonstrated understanding of Paint materials and cleaning chemicals
Vocational training for automotive finishing, preferred
Able to:
Tolerate very high heat temperatures, high dust, and exposure to chemicals
Work overtime on short notice
Be willing to:
Wear PPE respirators for extended amount of time
Improve self / area / company (including pursuing additional training, if needed)
