Finishing Technician / Sandblaster Job Description The Sandblast Operator sets up and operates sandblasting and bead blasting equipment to clean, prepare, and finish a variety of work surfaces. This role focuses on removing paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt to ensure high-quality surface preparation for industrial painting and finishing processes. The position requires hands-on work with blasting machinery as well as daily use of hand and power tools in an industrial environment. Responsibilities Operate sandblasting and bead blasting machines to clean and prepare metal and other work surfaces. Remove paint, grease, tar, rust, dirt, and other contaminants from surfaces to prepare them for finishing or painting. Perform surface preparation and paint prep according to job specifications and quality standards. Set up, adjust, and monitor blasting equipment to ensure proper operation and consistent results. Use hand and power tools daily to assist with surface preparation, masking, and finishing tasks. Work in and around industrial painting and paint booth areas as needed to support the finishing process. Inspect completed work to verify proper surface cleanliness and profile before painting or further processing. Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate protective equipment while operating blasting and painting-related equipment. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including blasting equipment and surrounding workspace. Report equipment issues or material defects to the appropriate personnel to minimize downtime and rework. Essential Skills Hands-on experience operating sandblasting and bead blasting equipment. Proficiency in surface preparation, including removing paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt from various materials. Ability to perform paint prep work for industrial painting applications. Experience working in or around industrial painting and paint booth environments. Comfort and proficiency using hand tools and power tools on a daily basis. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to safety procedures in an industrial setting. Strong attention to detail when preparing surfaces and inspecting finished work. Additional Skills & Qualifications Any education or certifications related to the manufacturing industry are a plus. Background in industrial painting or coating processes is beneficial. Familiarity with paint booth operations and related equipment is an advantage. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment. Why Work Here? The role operates on a first shift schedule, Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You will work on your feet and handle tools and equipment throughout the day in a production-focused environment, following safety procedures and using appropriate protective equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Riverside, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
