1st Shift Paint Shop Technician

Position Summary:

Perform routine and preventative maintenance painting duties, and a full range of specialized painting projects including, but not limited to, painting large structures in corrosive environments; perform inspections, cleaning, storage and disposal of paint products; and operate various tools and equipment

Essential Functions:

Loads and unloads parts, secures parts, and moves parts down the paint line Observes machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects or deviations from standards, and make adjustments as necessary Weigh or measure chemicals, coatings, or paints before adding them to machines Maintain pre-treatment equipment, spray booths, ovens and manual powder gun applicators Inspects parts for quality and informs supervisor of any problems Complies with safety procedures, promotes workplace safety and reports all unsafe acts Input and maintain data in ERP computer system/Global Setup and operation of equipment to coat products with powder based paint Complete paperwork/job sheets required for area Must maintain excellent attendance, and expect to work overtime if the need requires Inspecting coated items and testing coating thickness Identify quality issues and notify supervisor and/or resolve quality issues Perform minor repairs and adjust equipment Change out colors in booth hoppers and related activities to color changes Clean powder coating spray guns as instructed/maintain water checks, filter changes, continuous improvement Clean out paint booth after shift Assist in other areas as needed

Requirements:

HS Diploma Experience in powder coat painting environment Powder painting experience a plus Industrial painting experience or experience in a manufacturing or services capacity with an emphasis on painting preferred Ability and willingness to follow directions as well as the ability to work independently Excellent verbal communication skills Ability to work in a team environment Basic computer skills Blueprint reading

Physical Demands:

The position requires continual use of your hands, considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 lbs without physical restrictions Able to stand on your feet for ten hours a day
