Full Job Description What You'll Do:
Read and interpret work orders and blueprints to determine color, finish, masking, and thickness requirements. Perform surface preparation including cleaning, degreasing, sanding, scuffing, media blasting, and masking. Mix and set up powders; operate electrostatic spray guns and powder booths. Rack and un-rack parts, ensuring proper grounding and achieving even coverage and film build. Load and unload parts into curing ovens, verifying cure per specifications and documenting cycle data. Conduct in-process and final inspections, checking for appearance, adhesion, DFT (using mil gauge), gloss, and color match. Rework or touch-up parts as needed while minimizing scrap; document any non-conformances. Perform routine maintenance on spray booths, guns, ovens, and change filters as necessary; maintain a 5S clean workspace. Follow all safety procedures, including wearing appropriate PPE, lockout/tagout protocols, and adhering to ventilation guidelines. Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to meet schedule and quality KPIs.
What You'll Need:
1+ years of powder coating or industrial painting experience (electrostatic coating preferred). Strong working knowledge of prep methods, masking, racking, and curing processes. Ability to use mil thickness gauges and basic inspection tools and accurately record results. Ability to read and interpret work orders and basic drawings; follow standard work instructions. Strong attention to detail, pace, and consistency in a high-mix manufacturing environment. Physical ability to stand/walk for most of the shift and lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs; work in warm oven and booth areas.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with multi-coat systems, primers, textured/clear coats, and color changeovers. Media blasting experience and knowledge of booth/oven troubleshooting. Background in ISO 9001/lean or 5S principles; basic computer/data entry skills. Forklift certification and/or overhead crane/hoist experience.
Pay:
$20.00 - $22.00 per hour
