Job Summary:
Responsible for the spray application of multiple aerospace coatings on a variety of substrates, ranging from simple to complex configurations. This role includes preparation, application, inspection, and maintenance tasks to ensure high-quality finishes that meet engineering and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Apply primers, topcoats, clear coats, and specialty finishes to composite and metallic surfaces per engineering specifications. Perform surface preparation including masking, sanding, scuffing, cleaning, and racking. Mix paints to match required color specifications using manual or powered equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Set up and operate spray equipment; perform routine maintenance on paint tools and systems. Inspect work using precision measuring tools (e.g., isoscopes, scales) to ensure quality standards. Perform rework, touch-ups, and product modifications as required. Move materials within the shop and support workflow between operations. Maintain daily logs (including air quality checks) prior to paint operations. Dispose of waste materials, including hazardous waste, in accordance with regulations. Follow all safety procedures including use of PPE (respirators, suits, gloves, eyewear, etc.) Ensure compliance with BAC, OSHA, and customer specifications Support team members and assist with training lower-level employees.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of aircraft painting experience. Experience with spray applications, primer coats, and final finishes. Ability to apply stenciling, gloss finishes, and specialty coatings. Strong knowledge of surface preparation and paint mixing processes. Ability to read and interpret engineering documents. Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity. Ability to pass respirator certification and painter skill testing.
