Job Description

Job Summary The Powder Coating Line Operator is responsible for prepping, hanging, coating, and unloading metal parts on a moving conveyor line. This fast-paced role requires applying powder coating to various components using manual or automatic spray guns to achieve a uniform finish, ensuring quality standards are met, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties Loading/Unloading:
Hang parts onto the conveyor line and remove finished parts carefully, ensuring proper spacing and orientation.
Surface Preparation:
Clean, degrease, sandblast, or wash metal parts before coating. Mask or plug areas that must remain paint-free, such as threads, using tape or plugs.
Powder Application:
Operate electrostatic spray guns in a spray booth to apply powder coating evenly, adhering to color codes and thickness specifications.
Process Monitoring:
Control powder flow, voltage, and gun movement to ensure optimal finish and minimize waste. Monitor curing oven temperatures to ensure proper curing.
Quality Inspection:
Perform visual and mechanical inspections of finished parts to ensure they are free of defects (bubbles, uneven coverage) and meet customer standards.
Equipment Maintenance:
Clean and maintain spray guns, booths, and hooks on a scheduled basis.
Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, and safety glasses
Required Qualifications and Skills Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
Previous manufacturing or industrial painting experience is preferred.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality defects. Good hand-eye coordination for precise coating application. Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, and occasionally up to 75-100 lbs. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods. Comfortable working in environments with high noise levels and fluctuating temperatures (hot in Summer).
