Full Job Description Wet Painter Summary:
The Wet Painter is responsible for priming and painting/coating primarily large steel/metal materials to customer specifications.
Wet Painter Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Paint surfaces of steel, metal, etc. parts using wet spray painting equipment using surface preparation and painting techniques Apply a variety of coatings including epoxies, urethane, and polyurethane coatings from various paint manufacturers Consistently meet paint thickness requirements. Mix paint precisely to manufacturer, internal guidelines, and customer specifications Complete necessary paperwork for each job Prior to painting, clean and prepare part surfaces as specified to be contamination free Inspect parts prior to paint for needed repair, prepping, and cleaning Mask parts for overspray prevention Hang or set up parts prior to painting Inspect parts after painting for needed repairs, proper thickness, and general appearance Properly maintain paint equipment Follow guidelines for correct disposal of paint Cross-train to perform other duties as needed; in other departments or work areas as necessary Train new hires in wet paint process as needed Maintain safety training and testing for required equipment. Adhere to all company safety rules and practices and wear protective equipment as directed. assist Other duties as assigned Wet Painter Education and/or
Related Experience:
High school diploma or GED (high school equivalency diploma) required. Experience with wet painting in an industrial setting a plus 3+ years conventional and airless painting experience required 1+ year of experience operating a forklift
Wet Painter Other Skills and Abilities:
Attention to detail Must be able to follow plant and safety guidelines Ability to lift/move and push/pull up to 50 lbs. frequently Ability to stand on ladders, crawl, kneel, bend down, and stretch to apply coating on a varying part shapes and sizes is required May experience significant changes in room temperatures in severely hot or cold weather
