Summary:
The Industrial Coating Specialist manages the end-to-end flow of materials and monitors the operational readiness of finishing equipment within the manufacturing facility. This role focuses on inventory oversight, proactive material staging, coating system tracking, and quality assurance. The Specialist ensures that the coating line stays continuously supplied, safely handles coatings and solvents, and verifies that all equipment runs reliably and efficiently to meet production targets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Material Handling & Inventory Management Staging & Sequencing:
Retrieve, track, and stage raw parts and bulk coating materials according to the daily production schedule to eliminate line downtime.
Inventory Control:
Monitor stock levels of coatings, solvents, and line components; proactively report shortages to prevent manufacturing disruptions.
Solvent & Coating Management:
Safely handle, measure, and mix industrial coatings and solvents according to strict product specifications to ensure proper viscosity and flawless application.
Logistics & Transport:
Safely operate material handling equipment (such as forklifts, hoists, or pallet jacks) to transport parts and coating supplies between storage and application areas.
Equipment Oversight & System Readiness Pre-Run Verifications:
Perform pre-run checks on coating machinery, verifying that gauges, fluid pressure settings, and temperatures meet specifications before production begins.
Operational Monitoring:
Observe equipment behavior during production runs to catch errors, line variations, leaks, or pressure drops early.
Technical Maintenance:
Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and coordinate with the maintenance department for complex repairs, ensuring minimal downtime. (
Note:
Deep manual cleaning and booth scrubbing are handled separately; this role focuses on operational readiness and machine health.)
Quality Control & Safety Process Auditing:
Verify coating consistency and thickness using specialized gauges, ensuring all finished goods meet technical quality standards.
Safe Handling Practices:
Strictly follow facility procedures for using and storing coatings and solvents in designated, ventilated areas.
Workflow Optimization:
Maintain organized, clean, and safe staging zones to prevent material damage or cross-contamination. Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Qualifications & Requirements Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; previous experience in industrial coating, finish line operations, or manufacturing logistics.
Certifications:
Forklift certification required (or must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work around industrial machinery.
Skills:
Strong mechanical aptitude, experience with the safe transfer of industrial liquids/solvents, and excellent attention to detail.

A proactive mindset for keeping machines running smoothly and preventing failures before they happen.
Logistical Coordination:
Skill in managing physical inventory and matching the pace of staging to machine output speeds.
Process Discipline:
Absolute care when working with coatings and solvents to ensure a safe, precise, and efficient workspace.
