$18.00•$25.00/hr
DOE Night Shift Differential:
+10% on top of base rate for night shift Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Painter / Blaster to operate industrial spray painting and media blasting equipment to apply protective coatings to production equipment, systems, and fabricated materials. This role includes surface preparation, coating application, color matching, and ensuring high-quality finishes that meet industry and company standards. Key Responsibilities Perform surface preparation and apply protective coatings on piping, steel structures, and related components Operate and maintain blasting, spray painting, and related industrial equipment Mix paints, primers, and coatings to proper consistency using thinners, solvents, and additives Select correct pressures, nozzles, humidity, temperature, and cure times for application Clean, prep, mask, and protect surfaces prior to coating application Apply coatings evenly to avoid runs, thin spots, or over-spray Inspect finished work for defects such as pinholes, bare spots, or improper coverage; perform touch-ups as needed Maintain spray equipment, booths, filters, PPE, and work area in clean and safe condition Coordinate movement of finished goods to inspection or shipping Ensure materials and supplies are properly stocked and available Support bead blast area as needed Follow all OSHA and company safety standards and maintain a clean 5S work environment Perform other duties as assigned by TAS Job Skills & Qualifications Strong knowledge of industrial painting and coating techniques Experience with HVLP, airless, pump, brush, and roller applications Ability to read technical data, charts, and coating specifications Experience with 2-part mixing systems and specialty coatings (epoxies, urethanes, zincs) Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for paint equipment Ability to identify and resolve coating or equipment issues Knowledge of quality control standards and inspection requirements Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment Strong attention to detail and accurate paperwork/documentation Safety-focused mindset with ability to identify workplace hazards Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent 2-5 years of industrial painting or blasting experience Ability to read and understand English documents Experience with surface prep (abrasive blasting, hand/power tools) Experience applying industrial coatings and specialty finishes Preferred Qualifications Technical training or certification in industrial painting/blasting Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to work independently and problem-solve effectively Physical Requirements / Work Environment Ability to lift up to 70 lbs Standing and/or working up to 11 hours per shift (with breaks) Exposure to dust, fumes, noise, oil, and odors Non-temperature-controlled manufacturing environment Steel-toe boots and safety glasses required at all times May require heavy lifting and moving of equipment
