Hunter Buildings is the global leader in the design and manufacture of blast-resistant buildings. Located near the Ship Channel on the east side of Houston. Pay Rate will be based on experience.
Job Description:
The Painter/Sandblaster is responsible for preparing, painting, and sandblasting surfaces to ensure high-quality finishes on various products and equipment. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of painting techniques, and the ability to safely operate sandblasting equipment to remove surface impurities or coatings.
Responsibilities:
Include, but may not be limited to the following:
  • Prepare and sandblast surfaces to remove old coatings, rust, and contaminants, ensuring a smooth and clean surface for painting or coating.
  • Operate paint sprayers and sandblasting equipment to apply coatings, ensuring uniform coverage and high-quality finishes.
  • Ensure the proper handling, mixing, and application of paints and coatings as per manufacturer guidelines and job specifications.
  • Inspect surfaces after blasting and painting to ensure coatings meet required thickness, texture, and quality standards.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are followed when handling equipment, chemicals, and hazardous materials.
  • Maintain and clean sandblasting and painting equipment regularly to ensure optimal Assist in inventory management of paints, coatings, and related materials, reporting when supplies need replenishment.
  • Ensure the proper disposal of materials and hazardous waste according to environmental and safety regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient in the use of sandblasting and painting equipment.
  • Good knowledge of various paints, coatings, and materials, as well as their proper application techniques.
  • Knowledge of safety standards related to sandblasting, painting, and handling hazardous materials.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, ensuring high-quality results within time constraints.
  • Attention to detail with strong focus on quality control.
  • Must be able to read project plans and blueprints to complete assigned tasks.
Education & Experience:
  • At least 2 years of experience working as a painter/sandblaster, preferably in an industrial, manufacturing, or construction environment.
