Now Hiring:
Marine Blaster Painter (C7, C14 or C12 Required)
Location:
Marinette, WI NSC Staffing is actively seeking experienced Marine Blaster Painters for a long-term shipyard project in Marinette, WI. Candidates must hold SSPC C7 and either C14 Industrial Coating Application Specialist or C12 Spray Application Specialist certifications.
Pay & Per Diem:
$25.50/hr $150/day Per Diem for qualified travelers (non-local)
Position Overview:
As a Marine Blaster Painter, you will perform abrasive blasting, surface preparation, and application of marine coatings on vessels and structural components. All work must meet
SSPC/NACE
standards, safety requirements, and quality expectations in a shipyard environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform abrasive blasting to
SSPC-SP/NACE
standards on steel surfaces and marine structures Apply marine coatings using airless spray, brush, or roller Read and interpret work packages, blueprints, and coating data sheets Set up and operate blasting equipment (compressors, hoses, nozzles) Mix coatings per manufacturer specifications and environmental conditions Verify WFT/DFT to ensure coating compliance Maintain containment, cleanliness, and environmental controls Follow OSHA, SSPC, and confined space safety procedures Conduct equipment inspections and report maintenance needs Work closely with QA/QC to meet contract specifications
Qualifications:
Required:
Valid SSPC C7 Abrasive Blaster Certification Valid SSPC C14 or C12 Certification Minimum 3+ years of marine or industrial blasting/painting experience Knowledge of SSPC surface prep standards (SP-1 through SP-10) Ability to pass physical, drug screen, and respirator fit test
Preferred:
Shipyard, Navy, or offshore experience
Work Environment:
Shipyard setting (dry dock, pier side, onboard vessels) Exposure to dust, fumes, noise, confined spaces, and weather conditions PPE required (respirators, blast hoods, Tyvek suits, safety gear) May involve heights and extended work hours
Physical Requirements:
Lift up to 50 lbs regularly Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and working in tight spaces
