Job Description

The painter at Universal Welding is responsible for ensuring that all parts are prepped and painted to the quality standards defined by UWE and customer requirements. The painter is also responsible for the efficient use of time and to consistently strive to meet or beat the estimated hours for each job. This employee must adhere to all safety requirements defined by UWE safety policies and always ensure safe working practices.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES and
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensuring all safety policies and procedures are followed in their department. Obeying all company, OSHA, and other state and federal agencies' safety regulations. Completing all duties assigned by the Production Manager, while making the most efficient use of time, materials, and equipment. Maintaining or reducing labor/material costs for each project. Ensuring the overall quality of finish for each job leaving their department. Adhering to appropriate preparation processes for the material or paint process that is needed on a job-by-job basis. Accurately mixing paint and other chemicals as needed to achieve customer quality requirements. Following painting processes utilizing high volume - low pressure spraying systems, and using epoxy, urethane, and other industrial coatings. Manage the hazardous waste produced by the finishing process per the requirements of the applicable governing bodies. Using a 4000lb jib crane and 40,000lb overhead crane to lift heavy steel weldments and position them appropriately to be prepped and painted. Ensuring appropriate cleaning/maintenance procedures are followed for the paint booth, filtration system, and equipment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED. Some additional training at technical school is preferred.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in a manufacturing/warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, as well as reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to see and differentiate color and to focus.
