This is not a typical retail shoe job. It is a career-path position for someone who enjoys helping people, learning hands-on skills, and growing into a specialized healthcare-related profession. You will begin by helping customers find properly fitting comfort and orthopedic footwear. Over time, the right person may receive shop training, therapeutic shoe fitter training, supervised patient-care experience, and the opportunity to work toward becoming a Certified Pedorthist. If you are dependable, kind, detail-oriented, good with people, and eager to learn a specialized skill, this may be a strong long-term fit. About Rosendahl Rosendahl Foot & Shoe Center is a family-owned orthopedic and comfort footwear business that has served the Treasure Valley for decades. We help people with foot pain, diabetes, hard-to-fit feet, and other footwear-related needs. Our work combines retail service, patient care, craftsmanship, and problem solving. Many of our customers come to us because regular shoe stores have not been able to help them. What You Will Do Primary duties include: Greet customers warmly and listen carefully to their footwear needs Measure feet using professional fitting tools Help customers select shoes based on fit, comfort, support, foot shape, and activity level Learn how shoe depth, width, toe box shape, closures, and arch support affect comfort Sell comfort shoes, orthopedic footwear, arch supports, and related products Recognize when a customer needs help from certified patient-care staff Keep the sales floor clean, organized, stocked, and inviting Help with inventory, ordering, receiving, returns, displays, and merchandising Document customer or patient-care information when required As you develop, you may also learn: Basic shoe and insole modification skills Sanding, shaping, and working with shoe/insole materials Diabetic shoe and custom insert workflow Patient-care room setup and assistance Therapeutic shoe fitter concepts Supervised pedorthic patient-care skills Career Growth Opportunity This position is designed for someone who wants more than a short-term retail job. It is not automatic. Who We Are Looking For The ideal candidate is: Kind, patient, and professional with customers Comfortable helping older adults and people with foot problems Dependable and on time Detail-oriented and careful with measurements Coachable and willing to learn Comfortable being corrected and improving over time Interested in hands-on work and specialized training Able to work on their feet throughout the day Looking for a long-term career path, not just a temporary job Experience in retail, footwear, healthcare, caregiving, medical offices, physical therapy, customer service, or hands-on trades is helpful, but not required. This May Not Be a Good Fit If You Only want a basic retail sales job Are uncomfortable working with feet or foot problems Do not enjoy helping people one-on-one Prefer work that is exactly the same every day Are not interested in learning a specialized skill Qualifications Required:
Strong customer service and communication skills Reliable attendance and professional attitude Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the day Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when needed Basic math and computer/POS skills Willingness to learn footwear fitting, foot-care concepts, and documentation processes Preferred but not required: Retail or shoe-fitting experience Healthcare or caregiving experience Bilingual ability Hands-on or mechanical aptitude Interest in foot health, comfort footwear, or patient care Pay and Benefits Starting pay: $20.00 per hour , with advancement opportunities based on training milestones, demonstrated competency, and business need.
