Position:
Biomass Plant Instrumentation & Controls Technician Location:
Ione, CA Department:
Operations Reports To:
Plant Manager Position Summary:
A Power Plant Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Technician installs, calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots control systems, relays, sensors, and automation equipment for power generation units (boilers, turbines, generators) to ensure safe, efficient operation, requiring strong electrical/electronic skills, knowledge of P&IDs, and problem-solving for complex systems. Work with test equipment, hand tools, and PLCs, often under demanding industrial conditions, adhering strictly to safety and environmental rules, and are crucial for plant reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation & Calibration:
 Set up, wire, and calibrate control devices, protective relays, PLCs, and monitoring systems.
Maintenance & Repair:
 Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on instrumentation and control loops for plant equipment (pumps, motors, valves).
Troubleshooting:
 Diagnose and fix issues in complex automated systems, interpreting P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams) and electrical schematics.
System Monitoring:
 Test and maintain equipment like SCADA systems, computers, and metering devices.
Safety & Compliance:
 Adhere to strict safety protocols and environmental regulations, using PPE.
Key Qualifications:
Education:
Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Electronics/Instrumentation, trade school training, or equivalent experience.
Technical Skills:
 Proficiency with multimeters, oscilloscopes, loop calibrators; knowledge of PLCs, DCS, electrical codes.
Soft Skills:
 Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, analytical ability, and communication.
Experience:
 Experience in power plants, refineries, or similar industrial settings is preferred.
